New music Friday: Santigold and her Big Mouth, Azealia Banks’ Bambi…

Santigold is looking great in the video for her new single Big Mouth. It’s exciting to hear her again, especially since she’s using elements of the track Up All Night by Buraka Som Sistema, who also happen to have produced Big Mouth.

We obviously can’t resist posting Azealia Banks‘ latest track here as well. It’s called Bambi and it was premiered during the Mugler show in Paris this week. Just like that other popstar did… we wish Banks the same success. It follows up on the amazing Needsumluv.

MNDR – ‘#1 In Heaven’

MNDR brings back some good 2010 memories.

She first came to my attention after featuring on a Mark Ronson track. Then there was The Creators Project in London, her amazing gig at Bestival (I think it was her birthday on that day), and another gig at XOYO.

She’s back with a single called ‘#1 In Heaven’, and those familiar with her previous material and liking it won’t be disappointed (loving the harmoniiiies).

Please please 2012, let us hear more of MNDR.

Check out the new track here, via Pitchfork.

Austra reveal new video for ‘Spellwork’

Canadian band Austra have a new video out, for the track ‘Spellwork‘.

If you’re a devout druid, well this will be right up your cauldron. Special mention to the Little Red Riding Hood gang and the walkin-bouquet man. And if watermelons arouse you, then you’re in for a very special treat towards the end.

Spellwork‘ is one of the strongest tracks taken from Austra’s debut album ‘Feel It Break‘, check it out:

Just a casual Sunday evening remix: Emeli Sandé – Heaven (Alpines Remix)

British band Alpines have remixed Emeli Sandé‘s ‘Heaven’.

We could make a lot of puns about French mountains, paradise, and Sky Ferreira, but we won’t.

Housemeister feat. P.O.S – ‘Weird Friends’

We were casually listening to a quiet song by James Vincent McMorrow, courtesy of the amazing Laura Leishman (who presents the best radio show in France – Laura Leishman Project on Le Mouv’), when we suddenly got teleported to more techno-ey territories.

A little bit of German ‘rave rap’ before going to bed has never hurt anyone.

2012 will be great. Scissor Sisters feat. Azealia Banks – ‘Shady Love’

Happy new year everyone! 2012 can only be better than 2011.

It’s starting pretty well music-wise with a new single by Scissor Sisters featuring our dear Azealia Banks (whose ’212′ is our single of the year by the way, no need for a long list, she IS the future).

Jake Shears & co have revealed ‘Shady Love’, co-written by Banks, and it’s just what our ears were waiting for in order to start the year in a good mood.

Here it is:

Yelle have a new video out…’Comme Un Enfant’

French pop superstars Yelle have just released a new video for ‘Comme Un Enfant’.

It’s very pink.

Little Boots is back – listen to ‘Shake’

Guess who’s back? Little Boots is back! She just unveiled a new track via a YouTube video.

Female rappers roundup: Azealia Banks, Lady…

Azealia Banks played London’s Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen last Sunday and it was one of the most impressive performances of the year. It was good to see she could translate all the hype into something real, so much talent and nothing to dislike.

*semi-serious statement alert face*: The world of female rappers is quite limited, beyond the obvious mainstream ones. They’re either too underground to reach masses, or too caricatural. Azealia Banks is in a different league, and hopefully she’ll get the attention she deserves.

A few month ago, we mentioned Lady and her Twerk, and she recently released a new video for ‘Casey Anthony’:

Then we stumbled across a certain Coco Brown (who also happily calls herself ‘Ms No Tonsels’ – sic), and you can make of this what you want (NSFW):

New sound: Dems – House

A couple of friends posted this Dems video on Facebook and it only took a few seconds to convince me.

‘House’ is a haunting, melancholic track with great hooks – and it bodes well for the upcoming House EP, released on November 14th 2011 on Bad Life.

We want more of this please.
